    National Science Day Celebration   
      Karnataka State Council for Science and 
      Technology (KSCST), National Council for Science and Technology 
      Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Government of 
      India, New Delhi and Department of Science and Technology, Government of 
      Karnataka are jointly organizing National Science Day 2022 Celebrations on 
      28th February 2022 through On-line Platform. 
      We would like to bring to your kind 
      information that "INTEGRATED APPROACH IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY 
	  FOR SUSTAINABLE FUTURE" ಸುಸ್ಥಿರ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸಮಗ್ರ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ 
	  ಮತ್ತು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ is 
      the theme of this year 2022 National Science Day. 
	 
        
      KSCST is 
      conducting  the following competitions: 
      
      1. Science for Children: 
	   
	 
      For motivating and engaging the childrens in 
	  inquiry-based learning and apply scientific principle in day-to-day 
	  decision-making, 2 level competition for high school students (class 8, 9 
	  and 10) is being arranged. 
      Level - 1: Technology for Sustainable 
	  Living (District level) 
	 
      District level competition will be organised 
	  through online / offline in coordination with NRDMS centres of KSCST at 
	  30 districts in the state and best 4 concept paper will be selected 
	  for state level competition in last week of January 2022.

      Level - 1A: Technology for Sustainable 
	  Living: The competition will be organised through online / 
	  offline mode for all Residential Schools functioning under Karnataka 
	  Residential Educational Institutions Society (KREIS), Department of Social 
	  Welfare, Government of Karnataka in coordination with KREIS officials in 
	  the state and best concept paper will be selected for state level 
	  competition in last week of January 2022.
 
        
       
     
        
      
	  Level - 2: Design, Development and Modelling / 
	  Poster presentation (State level) 
	 
      State level demonstration of model will be held 
	  through online during second week of February 2022. 
	 
        
       
     
        
      
	  2. Science Puzzle & Riddle solving 
	  competition 
	 
      To flourish innovativeness of problem solving, 
	  critical thinking and visual-spatial reasoning among students the science 
	  puzzle & riddle solving competition will be organised for high school 
	  students (Class 8, 9 and 10) of Karnataka. 
	 
      The competition will be organised in 2 levels.
	  
	 
      Level - 1: District level competition will be 
	  organised through online in coordination with NRDMS centres. Twenty-five 
	  questions will be given in this level, four students from each district 
	  will be selected for the state level competition.

      Level - 2: In the state level student will 
	  answer 30 questions through online platform. Competition will be held in 
	  batches. 
        
       
     
        
      3. Science Painting 
      Science painting is an on-the-spot painting 
	  competition organised through online platform. The students of class 8, 9, 
	  and 10 of Karnataka will be participating. The competition is conducted in 
	  4 batches i.e., Batch 1: Government school students
 Batch 2: Private school students of 8 standard
 Batch 3: Private 
	  school students of 9 standard
 Batch 4: Private school students of 10 standard
 
      To enhance the creative thinking and casting 
	  future vision in "Integrated Approach in S&T for Sustainable Future". The 
	  concept will be narrated in the form of story on the spot (in first 15 
	  mins) to the children emphasising the role of science and technology for 
	  sustainable environment, sustainable future, conserving natural resources, 
	  reduction of pollution and relation of science and technology with 
	  environment. Student will be given 90 minutes for painting in any form. 
	  The completed painting will be received through google link. 
	 
      The received paintings will be adjudging by the 
	  faculties of Chitra Kala Parishath, Bengaluru.

	  4. Essay Contest for teachers and 
	  students 
      Essay contest is an attempt to 
	  give a vent for thought process, freedom to thinking process, visualizing 
	  what can be done and how these capabilities can be utilized for making 
	  life more sustainable. 
      Article will be received in three categories:
	  - High school 
	  students
 - High 
	  school teachers
 
 
      Best 5 articles will be awarded and will be 
	  included in NSD 2022 publication.

      5. Publication 
	KSCST is planning to bring a publication on 
	  National Science Day 2022, that will be released on 28 February 2022. The 
	  following components will be included in the publication. 
	- Importance of NSD
 - Details of all the previous themes
 - Best articles from 
	  student, teacher and general (10 from each category)
 - Article from KSCST officials (Best 5 articles 
	  will be included)
 - Copy of painting selected for prize
 - Hard copy and E-book proposed to be released 
	  on 28th February 2022.
