KSCST had invited project proposals from the final year engineering students for the 34th series (2010-11) of Student Project Programme (SPP) for the sponsorship. The Council received more than 1000 project proposals from various disciplines from over 80 engineering colleges in the State. Panel of experts approved 306 project proposals under this 34th Series of SPP with a total budget of Rs. 16,04,000/-.
During the month of June 2011, the Council had contacted engineering colleges for evaluating the projects at nodal centres. In the month of June, the Evaluation of sponsored projects was carried at these nodal centres.
The students demonstrated their project in the nodal centre. The experts, during evaluation reviewed the methodology and final output of the projects and selected 166 best projects for Seminar and Exhibition. The details of projects selected for Seminar and Exhibition branch wise are as follows:
The projects selected for Seminar / Exhibition were intimated to SPP Co-ordinator and Principal of respective engineering colleges for the participation of Principals, Project Guides and Students to this State Level Seminar and Exhibition.
The Council prepared the technical Compendium of these166 projects (64 for Seminar and 102 for Exhibition) for the Seminar and Exhibition. Experts for Technical lectures during Seminar and Exhibition were also arranged. On 19th and 20th August 2011, KSCST organized 34th series SPP Seminar and Exhibition at PES Institute of Technology and Management, Shimoga.
Sri B. Y. Vijayendra, Director, PES Trust (R) inaugurated the 34th Series of Seminar and Exhibition on 19th August 2011. Dr. M. R. Doreswamy, Chairman, PES Group of Institutions presided over the function. Prof. B. N. Raghunandan, Divisional Chairman, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore released the 34th SPP Series Technical Compendium. Smt. S. Y. Arunadevi, Joint Secretary, PES Trust (R) was the Guest of Honour.
Technical Programmes went on very well. Arrangements made for Seminar and Exhibition, especially for exhibition, were very much appreciated by the participating students, invitees from various colleges, faculty of Indian Institute of Science and other research institutions.
Dr. Swami Manohar, Managing Director, Limber Link Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore delivered a technical lecture on “Who is an Engineer?” on 19th August 2011 and Dr. S. S. Mahant Shetti, CEO, KARMIC, Manipal gave special lecture on "Obligations of a Gifted Person" on 20th August 2011.
Prize distribution function was organized on the 2nd day of the programme. Professor M. S. Mohan Kumar, Secretary, KSCST addressed the gathering. Prof. B. K. Raghu Prasad, Former Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering and CCMD, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore delivered valedictory address. Dr. M. Prithviraj, Executive Secretary, KSCST was the Guest of Honour. Smt. S. Y. Arunadevi, Joint Secretary, PES Trust (R) presided over the function. Dr. S.G. Sreekanteswara Swamy proposed vote of thanks.
A total of 23 projects were adjudged as best projects in the Seminar and Exhibition for the year and were awarded with Certificate, memento and cash prize. Vidya Vardhaka College of Engineering, Mysore was adjudged as the Best College of the Year.
