| Recovery
of Copper from Vanadiferrous Magnetite Deposits of Masanikere Areas |

In the Masanikere area of Shimoga District, there are large deposits of
vanadiferrous magnetite ores. The Visveswaraya Iron and Steel Company, Bhadravathi
has been using these ores for the extraction of Vanadium, while no efforts
are made to extract Copper on account of its low concentration in the ore.
Over a few decades high grade copper ores are being fast depleted, resulting
in the need for developing technology for the extraction of Copper from
these Vanadiferrous Magnetite Ores. |
